About the Coalition
With antisemitic incidents on the rise in New York City, we have a duty—to our families, our friends, and the entire Jewish community—to stand up against hate using one of the most powerful tools we have: our vote.
Beyond just getting voters to the polls, primary elections in NYC are unique because they use the ranked choice voting system. We need to ensure that our community is fully informed about the system and that our priorities are represented in the ranked choice system.
Jewish institutions across NYC are uniting through the New York City Jewish Voters Alliance to strengthen the impact of the Jewish vote. Your participation is crucial in ensuring our voices are heard in this year’s primary and general elections. Join us and be a force for change.
By signing up to be a coalition member you’ll commit to mobilizing your community to vote by participating in at least three of the following activities:
Hosting a Get Out the Vote (GOTV) event in your community and inviting representatives from JVU, JCRC, and other GOTV organizations to speak and educate.
Integrating GOTV activities into regularly scheduled events.
Sharing reminders to register and vote in your newsletters, emails, and other communications.
Displaying signage in your building to encourage community members to register and vote.
Organizational leadership speaking during regularly scheduled events or during services about the importance of voting in the upcoming primary election.
Posting voting information on your social media channels, WhatsApp groups, and/or listservs.
Keeping a voter registration table in your lobby or other gathering place.
Coalition members will designate one person to be the Community Coordinator for your institution. Community Coordinators can be a staff member, lay leader or volunteer who will take the lead on voter mobilization efforts in your organization and serve as a liaison to the coalition.
Community Coordinators will be provided with training and support by the Jewish Voters Unite staff and be connected with a network of Coordinators for ideas, help and connection. After the election Community Coordinators will be asked to periodically update the coalition on activities.
As a coalition member, we provide:
A comprehensive Get Out the Vote (GOTV) toolkit, including sample language for newsletters, printable posters and handouts, talking points and more.
Training for Community Coordinators and Coalition wide calls that will connect them with a larger network to share ideas, receive support and join a community of volunteers engaged in the same work.
On-call guidance from Jewish Voters Unite staff to assist coordinators in engaging your membership and advising on event planning.
